As mentioned previously the FRA opposes the permitting of this new enterprise without properly assessing the environmental impacts.
It is important that as many people as possible express their concern about the potential impacts of allowing this enterprise to pollute the river. We would encourage you to write to those charged with responsibility for protecting our environment and our health.
Remember as well as being one of the few rivers sustaining a healthy migratory fish population, the Fowey is also one of the main sources of drinking water for the region and any rise in the volume of effluent caused by this operation or the future failure of it’s systems will impact the costs which you pay to have the pollutants removed. In order to control parasites and fungus infestations, fish farms must use chemicals to kill these. These must not be allowed to enter your drinking water and the cost of removing them could add to the already high costs borne in users water bills.
